Congee, also called jook, is the classic chinese breakfast dish. This is basic recipe for congee that you can use another ingredients to cook your flavorite congee.

1. Clean up the rice, soak into the water for about 30 minutes, then drain well and combine with 1 tsp vegetable oil. Wash the fresh shrimps, remove the whiskers, cut into half from the back.
2. Pour the rice on a sand pot with enough water, bring to boil, then turn into low heat and simmer for about half an hour until it turns thick porridge. Add shrimps and dried turnip into the sand pot, continue to cook for about 10 minutes, then flavor with salt, sprinkle with spring onion and serve.
